Nurse’s Gory Tweets Leave Privacy Attys Gobsmacked

Day Pitney healthcare and privacy lawyer Eric Fader was quoted in an August 5 article, “Nurse’s Gory Tweets Leave Privacy Attys Gobsmacked,” in Law360. The article discussed allegations that a nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago violated patient privacy and inflicted emotional distress by tweeting about a shooting victim’s death and posting photos of a blood-soaked hospital room.

Eric pointed out that although hospitals provide their employees with training regarding patient privacy, and discipline them for violations when necessary, workers also need to use common sense. “I don’t think you should need to be told, ‘Don’t post a picture of a patient’s pool of blood online,’” he said.
